FAQs – Frequently Asked Questions

  1. How will we transition from my old billing service to the Practice Logix system?

The Practice Logix installation team will work closely with you through a detailed implementation plan including hardware configuration, Internet connection, electronic billing registration, and physician and staff training – all customized for your office’s unique circumstances.

  1. Can I use Practice Logix if I’ve never billed electronically before?

Yes. The Practice Logix staff will assist in completing all of the necessary clearinghouse registration paperwork, which will only require the physician’s signature. The process to get recognized by the payers as an electronic claims’ transmitter can take up to six weeks. In the meantime, Practice Logix can handle your billing manually.

  1. How does the Practice Logix ePS solution work?

The Practice Logix ePS solution is an Internet-based application that runs on a web browser – all that’s required is a broadband Internet connection (i.e., DSL) and Microsoft Windows browser, Internet Explorer.

  1. How much does the Practice Logix ePS solution cost?

We strive to be less than or competitive with your current billing costs, while delivering greater value and outperforming the services to which you’ve grown accustomed. As a free service, given your current costs and production numbers, we can show you the savings you can realize by implementing the Practice Logix ePS solution. 1. How does all of our current patient registration and insurance data get integrated into the Practice Logix ePS system?

If your practice already has accurate electronic data available from your current practice management system or billing service, a data conversion is possible. If not, we provide patient registration forms for your front office staff to distribute as patients check in. These forms, along with a copy of the patients' insurance identification card, are the only data required to set up a patient account.

  1. Can my existing billing staff use the Practice Logix ePS application or must I outsource everything?

While we offer a complete billing service solution, the Practice Logix ePS application can also be used by your existing staff. If you’re not ready to automate your practice or staff at this time, we’d also be happy to offer our solution as a traditional third-party billing service.

  1. Can I still use the Practice Logix ePS if my staff has limited experience with computers?

Although the Practice Logix ePS system was designed to be as easy to use as a television remote control, we provide the necessary training to help your office become automated with ease. Beginning with understanding the computer-proficiency and duties of each of your staff members, we customize all training to your practice’s specific needs.

  1. Who documents information in the chart about the patient’s visit?

It is the responsibility of the physician to document all visit-related information to support the billing process in the patient’s medical record. Practice Logix uses the coding (procedural, non-physician service, and diagnosis) information entered into the application by the physician. In some circumstances, copies of the chart notes may be requested to support billing, but it is always the responsibility of the physician to maintain the documentation required to support the bills being generated.
